Title

Caernarfon Castle

The Welsh castles of Edward 1, especially the last four,( including Conwey, Harlech and Beaumaris ) became renowned throughout Europe as masterpieces of military architecture and engineering. They used every refinement of defence evolved in England, Europe and even the Middle East during years of siege and warfare. The castles have been quoted as being 'magnificent emblems of our subjection',
but the fact that so much resource was put into their making also indicate at the resilience of the native Welsh people who were not ready to live under such oppression.
